Asylum Hill Farm

Asylum Hill Farm is moving home to Michigan this summer!
Site updated May 09, 2012

Located in Warrenton, VA, raising registered Nigerian Dwarf goats. Member of AGS & ADGA. My major is Agricultural Science at Oregon State University.  Asylum Hill formally established a registered dairy goat herd in April 2011, however my sister who runs Five-Points Farm, and I are 4th generation agriculturalists on both sides of the family.

I am developing a breeding program based on several bloodlines that I will blend into what I like best about each of them. My program will focus on udders in proportion to the doe's body with attachments that last into old age, level rumps, overall refinement, while staying under height and concentrating on polled animals.

Polled Nigerians
The polled trait saves an animal the pain of disbudding and the economic loss to the breeder of disbudding injuries and fatalities. The benefit of the polled trait far outweighs the slight risks - there are  many more kids lost to disbudding complications than are affected by rare polled birth defects.
